イタチの毛不足が叫ばれる中、生み出された
silver foxの毛を使った筆『白狐』。
イタチの書き味に近づけるべく作られた筆で、同じ大きさのイタチ筆よりお値打ちかと思われます。
実は筆軸である竹も、今業者さんが激減して少なくなっていて、そんな中、木軸で独特の色軸を作ったんだそうです。
竹軸に比べるとほんのほんの若干重いですが、それも楽しんでいただける範囲かと思います。
大の軸径は12㎜、穂長は50㎜で四号筆ぐらいの大きさになります。

In response to the ongoing shortage of weasel hair, the Byakko brush was developed using silver fox hair, carefully designed to replicate the writing feel of traditional weasel brushes—but at a more accessible price point.
This large-sized version features a shaft diameter of 12 mm and a bristle length of 50 mm, making it comparable in size to a standard No. 4 brush.
It is well-suited for writing kanji, semi-cursive and cursive scripts, and expressive brushwork.
Due to a significant decline in bamboo shaft production, this brush is fitted with a custom-colored wooden handle, crafted as a modern alternative.
While the wood is slightly heavier than bamboo, the balance and feel remain comfortable—and many users enjoy the subtle difference.
