滲みの少ない加工をされた仮名用手漉き画仙紙の半切サイズ(約35cm×約136cm /書道の全紙の紙の幅を半分にしたサイズであり、最も一般的に使用される書道用紙の一つです)になります。
京都で加工された料紙でドーサ引(強めな加工)ですが滲みは少なめ程度で、全体ぼかしに砂子が入ったシンプルな組み合わせでベースの色が藤紫(落ち着いた紫)になります。
This set includes 10 sheets of handmade kana calligraphy paper (gasan-shi) in half-cut size (approx. 35 × 136 cm), one of the most widely used formats in Japanese calligraphy.
The paper is handcrafted and finished in Kyoto, featuring a strong dōsa coating (a traditional sizing process) that effectively controls ink absorption while preserving a gentle, natural bleed—ideal for elegant kana writing.
The design features a soft all-over color gradation with delicate sunago (fine metallic powder flakes) scattered across the surface, giving a refined and understated shimmer.
The base color, Shibu-uguisu, is a deep olive-green tone inspired by the subtle plumage of the Japanese bush warbler (uguisu).
This traditional color represents elegance, tranquility, and natural refinement, often used in Japanese art and textiles to express a quiet sense of harmony.
Terminology Notes
Dōsa (ドーサ引き): A traditional coating of glue and alum applied to handmade paper to prevent excessive ink bleed.
Sunago (砂子): Fine gold or silver flakes sprinkled decoratively across the paper surface.
Shibu-uguisu (渋鶯): A muted, dark olive-green hue derived from the natural tones of the bush warbler, symbolizing understated beauty in Japanese aesthetics.
